MCMURRAY AND MONTOYA QUALIFYING AT MICHIGAN

The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) held one practice session and qualifying for Sunday’s Pure Michigan 400 at Michigan International Speedway today.

• Michigan International Speedway has undergone some significant changes over the course of the year. This is only the second time teams have raced on the new surface and Goodyear brought in a new tire for this weekend’s race.
• McMurray ranks first in the number of green flag passes in the last 15 races at Michigan, passing 1,333 cars under green flag conditions.  This is 101 more passes than second-place driver, Kevin Harvick.
• Montoya made two Indy Car starts at Michigan, earning a second-place finish in 1999 and a win in 2000 where he led 39 laps on his way to victory.
• There will be two practice sessions tomorrow with the first one beginning at 8:30 am ET and the final session at 11:00 am ET.
 
The Pure Michigan 400 will air on ESPN and radio stations affiliated with MRN on Sunday, August 19 at 1:00 pm ET.
