TARGET TEAM FINISH 23rd AT CHICAGOLAND SPEEDWAY

Team Target Finish 23rd at Chicagoland Speedway

JOILET, Ill.  (September 16, 2012)

Teams made their way to Chicago over the weekend for the first Chase race of the 2012 season. The Target team started in the 28th position and endured handling concerns plus long green flag runs to finish out the GEICO 400 in the 23rd position.

Juan Pablo Montoya and the No. 42 Target team made their first appearance of the season at Chicagoland Speedway. With 10 races remaining on the schedule, the guys looked to turn their luck around and bring home a solid finish. Montoya started in 28th and realized that the handling was off almost immediately. The Target Chevrolet ran midfield for the first half of the race and eventually got the handling turned around. Long green flag runs with only four caution flags displayed hindered the team’s ability to make a charge to the front at the end. The Target team would have to settle for a 23rd-place finish.

“We struggled at the start of the weekend with the Target Chevrolet,” Montoya remarked. “We just couldn’t find the right balance for the car. The guys did a lot of work on it during the race and things finally started to turn around but the long green flag runs killed us. We just weren’t able to get back on the lead lap and run up front. Not the result we were hoping for.”
