Ganassi’s Teams Pick Up Where They Left Off

Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates picked up where they left off in 2010 with the start of the GRAND-AM “Roar before the Rolex 24” test session running the two best times in Friday’s opening practice.

The defending Rolex Series champions Scott Pruett and Memo Rojas along with sports-car standout Joey Hand topped the time charts in the No. 01 TELMEX/Target Dinan-Prepared BMW Riley with a lap of 1:41.043, 126.837 MPH. Pruett, Rojas and Hand all turned laps as the newest Chip Ganassi Racing driver Graham Rahal was unable to take times on Friday due to illness.

Ganassi’s NASCAR and IndyCar drivers Jamie McMurray, Juan Pablo Montoya, Scott Dixon and Dario Franchitti joined the No. 01 team on the speed charts in the second position, running a lap of 1:41.256, 126.570 MPH.

"It's a great way to be kicking off the season,” said Pruett. “Last year certainly was an incredible season. This is our Super Bowl. A lot of energy goes into it - not only from the teams, but the officials and everyone involved. It's monumental."
