Getting Dirty at Eldora
Earnhardt Ganassi Racing Partners with Clorox to Sponsor Larson When NASCAR Trucks Make First Ever Start on Dirt at Famed Eldora Speedway
CONCORD, N.C. (July 18, 2013) – Earnhardt Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates (EGR) announced today that longtime Chip Ganassi Racing Teams (CGRT) partner Clorox, will sponsor rising NASCAR star Kyle Larson in the first NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) race on dirt July 24 at Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio. The brand known for getting you clean will partner with Larson, who will drive the No. 30 Clorox Chevy Silverado, for what will no doubt be the ‘dirtiest’ race of the year.
Larson’s racing background, which has been predominately on dirt tracks in open-wheel competition, is no stranger to victory at Eldora Speedway. The Elk Grove, Calif. native became one of only two drivers to ever sweep the USAC (United States Auto Club) Four Crown Nationals with wins in USAC Midget, Sprint Car and Silver Crown divisions in 2011. Larson also captured victory in the USAC Midgets at Eldora in 2012.
Notes of Interest:
• Truck Series Success: In his only NCWTS start in 2013, Larson dominated at Rockingham Speedway by leading 187 of 205 laps en route to his first-ever NCWTS victory. In just five starts in the NCWTS, Larson has one win, two top-five and four top-10 finishes.
• Versatile Driver: Larson, who is competing in his first full season as a rookie of the year contender in the NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS), has four top-five and 11 top-10 finishes, in just 17 series starts. In 2012 Larson competed in 123 races in seven different types of race cars and captured the victory in 30 of those events. He is a two-time nominee for the Mario Andretti Trophy as SPEED Performer of the Year Award (2011, 2012).
• 100 and Counting: Earlier this year Clorox celebrated their 100th Anniversary and marked the celebration with a special paint scheme on the EGR No. 42 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) car of Juan Pablo Montoya. For the past 100 years, the Clorox Company has been making messes a thing of the past and the future continues to look bright as the company celebrates their centennial throughout 2013.
• Strong History: The on-track relationship between Clorox and CGRT extends over a decade. Clorox became a partner of Chip Ganassi Racing Teams in 1997 and has been a fixture in auto racing ever since. Clorox has also sponsored Larson on two previous occasions this season in the NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS), including Larson’s rookie debut in the 2013 series-opener at Daytona International Speedway.
Kyle Larson, Driver, No. 30 Clorox Chevy Silverado:
“I am really looking forward to racing a truck on the dirt. I have a lot of experience racing on the dirt but it will certainly be fun to do it in a truck. I also think it is great to have a brand like Clorox on the truck because we all know this will be one dirty race. I think the NASCAR fans are going to love it - I can’t wait.”
Steve Lauletta, President, Earnhardt Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates:
“Clorox has been a great partner of ours for a long time and we are pleased that they will be partnering with Kyle again – but this time on the dirt track of Eldora. Since Clorox is known for getting things clean, it only made sense for them to partner with us for what no doubt will be one of the dirtiest races of the season.”
