Pocono Recap: The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) headed to eastern Pennsylvania for the second race in just eight weeks at the track labeled the “Tricky Triangle”. Jamie McMurray posted a solid qualifying result in the Cessna Chevrolet SS on Friday afternoon to start the Gobowling.com 400 from the 12th position and would have to overcome an early unscheduled pit stop in the 160-lap race to post a 16th-place finish.

McMurray at Watkins Glen: McMurray has 10 starts at Watkins Glen. He has one top-five, two top-ten finishes and has led 12 laps. McMurray has an average starting position of 16.5 and an average finish of 20.3. His best qualifying result was a front row start from the second position in 2010 and a best finish of third in 2006.
Family Time: Jamie McMurray will stop by the McDonalds Kid Zone, adjacent to the McDonald’s Family Grandstand, for an appearance on Sunday August 11 at 9:30 a.m. ET to meet fans and sign autographs. The McDonald’s Family Grandstand is an alcohol and smoke-free area for families to enjoy the races at Watkins Glen International. The Kid Zone features giant inflatables, games, character appearances and prizes.
Tune-in: Jamie McMurray will stop by the SPEED Stage on Saturday August 10 at 1:30 p.m. to tape a segment of Trackside on SPEED. The show will air tape-delayed on Saturday night at 11 p.m.
Juan Pablo Montoya and No. 42 Target Team
Pocono Recap: Juan Pablo Montoya and Team Target headed north to Pocono Raceway for the Gobowling.com 400. The No. 42 Target Chevrolet SS lined-up in the 19th position for Sunday’s race and on the first lap the fate of the team was altered. Montoya was involved in a multicar incident and received significant damage to the front of the car. Team Target would settle for a 28th-place finish.
Montoya at Watkins Glen: Montoya has just six starts in his NSCS career at the Glen, in that time he has one win in 2010, one pole from last year, two top-five and four top-10 finishes. His average start at the Glen is 10.3 with an average finish of 15.0. Montoya has led 81 laps and completed 497 of 542 laps total around the 11- turn road course.
Looking at the Numbers: Montoya has the third-best driver rating, 110.5, at Watkins Glen. He also ranks in the following categories: 59 fastest laps run (fourth-most), average green flag speed of 120.036 mph (third-fastest), 431 laps in the top-15 (sixth-most).
In the Booth: Montoya will join the ESPN broadcasters in the booth for a couple of segments during the NASCAR Nationwide Series race on Saturday in Watkins Glen. Watch the Zippo 200 live on ABC at 2 p.m. ET.
