Las Vegas (March 6, 2011) – Juan Pablo Montoya and the Clorox team looked to better their best finish of 19th at Las Vegas Motor Speedway over the weekend. The No. 42 Clorox Chevrolet started in the 23rd position and ran up in the top 10 for the majority of the event before crossing the finish line in the third position. The team walked away with the O’Reilly Auto Parts Award for improving the most positions from their starting position to their finishing position, Montoya improved 20 places.

The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series continued their double-header out west this time in “Sin City”. The trip would be the first race at a mile-and-a-half track this season and the first appearance for Target partner Clorox on the No. 42 Chevrolet. Starting midfield, Montoya quickly made his way to the front within 20 laps. A little pit strategy and a fast handling race car allowed the Clorox car to be a solid fixture in the top 10 for the entire race. Montoya would lead a total of eight laps in the closing laps and eventually take the checkered flag in the third-position to give the Earnhardt Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates organization their first top-five of the season.

After three races in the 2011 season, Montoya has one top-five, two top-10 finishes and moved up five positions in the point standings to fourth. He and Carl Edwards are tied with 106 points, seven back from the current points leader.

“It was a good day for us”, Montoya stated. “Our Clorox Chevrolet was very good all day.  We battled between sixth and eighth place and then a little bit better and a little bit better.  It was good; we were getting better, but we just never closed in.”

Racing will resume in two weeks when the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series heads to the “World’s Fastest Half-Mile” at Bristol Motor Speedway. The Jeff Byrd 500 will air on FOX and radio stations affiliated with PRN on Sunday, March 20 at 1:00 pm ET.
