Sonoma, Cali. (June 26, 2011) – Jamie McMurray started the Toyota/ Save Mart 350 from the outside front row on the 1.99-mile road course in Sonoma, and worked hard all day to overcome on track issues and post a 15th-place finish in the McDonald’s Chevrolet at Infineon Raceway.

McMurray had a very good practice session on Friday and backed it up with a strong qualifying effort, putting the McDonald’s Chevrolet on the outside of the front row. In Saturday’s two practice sessions the No. 1 team also posted the first and second fastest times respectively, and the team felt they had a competitive race package for Sunday’s 110-lap event.

The race would test the fortitude of the team however.  The McDonald’s Chevrolet battled with a loose condition when the event began. Soon after, the team would have to overcome issues with being caught up in an on-track altercation on lap 38 and having a flat tire on lap 55.  McMurray and the McDonald’s team raced through the field on both occasions to regain track position and brought the car home in the 15th-positon.

After the event McMurray commented, “I felt good about our chances for a solid run today.  We unloaded with a fast car on Friday and we were good all weekend, but things can happen so quickly at this track.  We worked hard to come back through the field a couple of times today and I am proud of the effort from our crew.”
