BASS PRO SHOPS TEAMS BRINGS HOME 14TH-PLACE FINISH IN SEASON FINALE

Homestead, Fla. (November 20, 2011) – The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series made the final stop of the 2011 season at Homestead-Miami Speedway.  The No. 1 Bass Pro Shops/ Tracker Boats team battled from the 26th starting position, including an hour plus red flag for rain, to complete the season with a 14th-place finish at the South Florida track.

Jamie McMurray posted the 26th fastest time in qualifying on Saturday afternoon and knew the team would have to utilize strategy and quick pit stops to gain valuable track position in Sunday’s 267 lap race.  McMurray reported handling concerns with the car in the early stages of the race and the crew made several adjustments to maintain track position.  In the closing laps McMurray reported a vibration and had to nurse the car to the finish.  When the checkered flag fell on the Ford 400 and the 2011 NSCS season, the Bass Pro Shops Chevrolet came home with a 14th-place finish.

McMurray commented following the race, “Our guys really worked hard on the Bass Pro Shops car tonight.  I wasn’t sure what to expect with our car today.  We were trying a few different things with our set up and the weather changes so much during the course of this race.  I’m proud of the effort from our team, I just wish we could have had a couple of more stops to adjust on the car.  I look forward to enjoying some down time for a few days then getting right back to work for 2012.”

Notes:
- McMurray has one pole, two top-five and four top-10 finishes this season
- McMurray finished the 2011 season 27th in the final point standings

The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series will kick off the 2012 season with Speedweeks in February in Daytona Beach, Fla.
