BASS PRO SHOPS TEAM BRINGS HOME A TOP-15 FINISH AT TEXAS

FORT WORTH, Tex. (April 14, 2012) – The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) paid a visit to the “Lone Star State” for a race under the stars at Texas Motor Speedway.  The seventh race of 2012 season would only be slowed twice for caution.  The 334-lap event set a record pace with a speed of 160.577mph, including a 234 lap green-flag run to the end.  Jamie McMurray maintained position on the lead lap throughout the race until the final 50-laps, bringing the Bass Pro Shops Chevrolet to the finish with a 14-place result.

The Bass Pro Shops team started the Samsung Mobile 500 from the ninth-position and maintained position in the top-10 for the majority of the race.  Crew chief Bono Manion limited the changes during the race to just air pressure adjustments as the car seemed to struggle with varying conditions throughout the race.  In the end, the long green flag run limited the amount of time on pit road to make further adjustments or gain ground on the leaders and McMurray would finish with a top-15 run.

After the event McMurray stated, "Our car was inconsistent tonight for some reason.  We went to extremes in handling without making major adjustments.  The guys on the Bass Pro Shops team worked hard all weekend and we had a pretty good car.  I wish we could have caught a couple more cautions to close the gap on the cars in front as we were pretty fast there at the end.”

Notes:
- In 17 career starts at Texas Motor Speedway, McMurray has three top-five and six top-10 finishes
- McMurray has only one DNF in his 17career starts at Texas Motor Speedway
- McMurray moved up one spot in the NSCS point standings to 23rd

The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series will be at Kansas Speedway next for the STP on Sunday April 22, 2012. FOX and MRN affiliated radio stations will have live coverage at 12:30 pm ET.
