CONCORD, N.C. (March 29, 2009) – Coinciding with the launch of Activision Publishing, Inc.’s (Nasdaq: ATVI) Guitar Hero® Metallica®, the Earnhardt Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates’ No. 8 Chevrolet, driven by 25-year-old Aric Almirola, will be primarily sponsored by the highly-anticipated video game at Martinsville Speedway.

 

This will be the third race during the 2009 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) season under the Guitar Hero® banner for Almirola and the No. 8 team.  The No. 8 Chevrolet Impala SS’s powerful design draws it’s inspiration from the intense yet electrifying music of Metallica.

ALMIROLA at MARTINSVILLE: Aric Almirola will attempt to make his fourth career NSCS start at Martinsville this weekend.  His best start came during the 2008 NSCS season, qualifying third for the spring race.  His best finish occurred during the fall Camping World Truck Series race in 2006 when he finished 16th. 

 

CAREER HIGHLIGHTS:  In 23 NSCS starts Almirola has one top-10.  In the NASCAR Nationwide Series the 25- year-old has one win, two top-5(s), six top-10(s), and 4 Coors Light Pole Awards, in only 27 starts.  Almirola also has five top-10(s) in 33 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series starts.
