Brooklyn, Mich. (June 13, 2010) – Jamie McMurray and the No. 1 GE Reveal Team traveled to the Michigan International Speedway for 400-miles of racing this past weekend. McMurray qualified on the outside pole for the Heluva Good! Sour Cream Dips 400 and led the first lap before handling issues plagued the No. 1 Chevrolet forcing a 24th-place finish.

During first practice on Friday inclement weather issues were a concern, cutting the only session before qualifying 20-minutes short. McMurray finished in the sixth-position but faced a green racetrack and going out driver No.1 in qualifying. After placing a speed of 189 mph, McMurray dropped only one position to line-up on the outside pole for Sunday’s event.

When the green flag dropped McMurray jumped out front leading the opening lap of the 400-mile event. Unfortunately, McMurray would fight a loose handling condition from the beginning. Long green flag runs and the continued rising track temperatures forced an ill-handling No. 1 Chevrolet for the rest of the afternoon. McMurray finished the 200 lap event in the 24th-position.

“It was a hard race for No 1 GE Reveal team. I felt good after practice and qualifying on Friday but the consistently changing weather this weekend did not work in our favor. Crew chief Kevin “Bono” Manion and the whole team worked hard all day making changes but it just wasn’t out day. We’ll learn from this weekend and head out west to Sonoma,” commented McMurray.

The finish held McMurray’s 18th-position in the 2010 NSCS point’s standings. The No.1 Team will now turn their focus towards the first of two road course events on the 2010 NSCS schedule. The first event will be at the Infineon Raceway this weekend, as NASCAR heads back to the west coast to California.

The Toyota/Save Mart 350 is Sunday, June 20 at 3pm ET and will be the third of seven TNT “Summer Series” races. Radio listeners can tune-in to stations affiliated with PRN at 2:00 pm (ET).
